I don't usually use teflon but I'm housesitting and fixed eggs in a teflon wok this morning. I've soaked the pan in soapy water all day long but that hasn't worked.

Having already soaked the pan in hot, soapy water, which is what I would have suggested, I would use a plastic scraper (turner, etc.), a nylon scratcher (similar to what is used in the shower), or place the skillet on top of the stove, fill half-full with water and a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda, and bring to a boil; turn heat off, let sit for an hour, then rewash. Good luck! :)

Addendum: If the teflon is scratched too badly, I would highly recommend tossing the pan...you are likely eating bits of teflon when cooking in a badly scratched pan such as this.

We sent our "non-stick" pans to recycling heaven when they not only started sticking, but after I read that the Teflon can flak off and the chemicals get into food. Before I read that, we would still spray the pan with cooking oil. Once you remove the egg, spray the pan the next time-- Even if you're stir-frying vegetables. When I cook, I'll spray the pan and if the food starts to stick I spray the food, too and the pan again. Sure, I still get food stuck on food on occasion, but it's in part, because, I have the burner on too high and/or I'm not paying attention and let the food sit in one spot for a bit.

I agree with Caroline and Ericka - boil some water with Baking Soda. Future reference, try using cold water to remove egg - hot water can 'cook it' on and make it more difficult to remove. But once it is giving you a problem, best bet is to do the boiling water and use a plastic spatula &/or a soft scrubby.

That's odd because nothing is supposed to stick to teflon.

Its normal this has happened to me, what i usually do is i add water to the pan and boil it until its hot then after it has cooled off i scrap it off with a scrubber. Good Luck!
