I don't have eggs and I can't go to the store but I really want to make the cake now. The box mix calls for two eggs. I can use the following:
Egg whites
Mayo
Corn starch
Apple sauce
Half&half

I have heard of these being suitable substitutions for whole eggs in general. For this case, which one do you think will give the best results, or which have you seen or heard of to work well?

Mayonnaise, about one tablespoon per egg. Using whites only will make cake, not fudge. Its the oily bindiness of the yoke in the egg that the fudge wants. Apple sauce will do well, in the right amount, but it's a guess. You may also use vegetable oil.

I would think egg whites. When you use a white cake mix, that's what is called for.
