Details of Violation: I have made a receiped tonight for curried Squash Soup. In the receipe it states Ingredients: Pappadams (Lentil wafers). My question is: "What the heck are Pappadams and where the heck to I get those? Any help please email me angelikabertrand@msn.com subject pappadams. I am serious this is a receipe I need for tomorrow! thanks.

Reason of Violation:Not in English/Not Comprehensible :

If this is not English than I do not know what language it is? I got an email violation from Clever stating they deleted this question. It was not comprehensible? I think it is 100% comprehensible and does not go against policy of Clever. Do you agree?Plus I want my 19 points back that they subtracted from my points!

These are the Indian version of tortillas. Flat and thin, they are the size of a small pancake. You should be able to get them at any of the East Indian food markets as they are a staple in indian cooking.

Sorry about the deletion -- that doesn't make a lot of sense. Perhaps mine will be deleted too, for using the word tortilla.

They are lentil cakes. They are Greek or Indian, and like other culinary terms, the word is also English. From about six sources, they are treated as a basic ingredient; they are like tortillas this way. However, they are made out of lentil flour and water, maybe baking soda and maybe garbanzo flour, and cooked or sun dried flat (like a tortilla, which is apparently a similar thing in corn.) I don't know Clever, but if it accepts tortilla as an English word it should accept pappadams, and you should get your points back.

Pappadams (Pappadums or Puppodums) are thin round lentil (lentils are like peas or beans but smaller and with a different flavour) crackers and originally they come from India. They are ideal as a starter or as a snack. They are very easy to cook, just allow them to fry for 2 or 3 seconds in hot oil. For better results break them in 4 equal pieces before frying because they will expand. You can find it in the supermarkets, usually in the places where they keep products of international food. There are trademarks like Patak's or Sharwood's among others. I hope I have helped you a little.

I wonder if you mean POPPADOM. this is a type of indian wafer, partially cooked only, which needs to be deep fried on both sides for a few seconds, then it expands. A delicious acompliment to indian food. you can buy them in any indian shop or an ordinary supermarket in the indian section. Good luck
