I was wondering if I'd save money by making my own, a bag of 100 6" corn tortillas are about the same as a bag of chips I'd usually buy.

I believe this person is asking about how many chips she can hope to make from a package. It would be an interesting experiment but i would say realistically you could get 6 chips from each tortilla. That basically cutting them like a pizza into 6 pieces. therefore making 600 chips or so. The source website says its about 24 bite size ones per ounce which are a little bit smaller than what you would be making. but for math purposes it would take approximately 25 ounces to make what you can make at home. Now all you need to know is how many ounces in a bag at the store.

To get the chip count of the bag at the store look at the back see serving sizes and servings per container. multiply it out and you will ge the exact for the type of chip you are talking about.

When you look at the time it will take to cut the tortillas, heat the oil and fry the chips, you'll be spending a lot more money on oil and your labor than the $3 for the store bought ones. They are fun to make once in a while though.

Depends on the size of bag, size of chip, and brand. Buy a bag and count them.

it goes by weight....and each chip isn't the same weight
