I would like to make some food gifts for Christmas presents for family and friends this year. I need some ideas that are easy and fairly cheap. I am not much of a cook and have a toddler so I dont have to much time or money. Thanks for any ideas or information thanks!

Well, I'm sure you could find some cheap mugs and put some hot chocolate packages inside. Add some Christmas candy like candy canes or hershey kisses. Maybe bake some cookies. It's not expensive and nobody can turn down sweets at Christmas.

Happy Holidays!

Sweets as others have said is always great for the holidays!

Here are some ideas that are easy to make some of which requires no cooking at all..who has the time with a baby on hip..

Chocolate pies: purchase graham cracker crust, inst jello pudding mix. All it takes is mixing the the pudding and pouring it into the crust...wow your finished! you can purchase holiday bags from the dollar tree stores to wrap them in..easy as pie!

Another idea: Breads. If you have a bread machine or can be baked in oven. There are a good variety of breads to choose. Maybe add some cheese slices if you so desire.

Fruit jello bowls: Can fruit, jello and water. You can pick up some holiday containers with lids to place it in..

Any of these would be great and all of them I know will be made with love!

Sugar glazed walnuts or pecans are REALLY easy and fairly inexpensive. All you need is the nuts and white sugar and water. The amount of sugar should be 2x as much water (ex. 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water). Mix the sugar water and nuts together in microwave safe dish and microwave for about 8 minutes (or until sugar carmelizes). Then spread onto baking sheet spread out into small pieces. Let cool and you're done!! Package in colored foil! ENJOY!

Make baskets with different themes. You could basically buy most of the stuff, and then anything you make homemade is just a little extra bonus. You could make one with all different flavors of coffees and some cute mugs, or one with different pastas, sauces, and spaghetti bowls. . .there are tons of ideas. Search the web for gift baskets, and then try to copy some of their ideas. . .A good idea is to make home baked bread, and then wrap it with different spreads, dipping oils or jams. . .Or you could buy cute holiday themed plates and either buy or bake some Christmas cookies, then just wrap it up with some nice saran wrap or plastic wrap. A lot of times they have holiday themed wrapping around now at the supermarket or a craft store.

Go to allrecipes.com, and type in the search " cookies in a jar". There are fabulous ideas for gifts. You layer the ingredients in a jar, attach the recipe and decorate the jar creatively. My daughter does this for gifts and they are always a big hit.

An anti-oxidant basket could contain berry preserves, white, green and black teas, and an individual sized bottle of red wine.

You can always go the traditional fruit basket route.....or a grape and cheese basket to be more classy.
