Buy a Turducken if you want to impress your guests..... and if money is no object. They cost about $5 - $10 a pound, but are worth it I'm told.
Turkeys are easy to cook. You have to decide whether you want to bother with stuffing or not. Me... I think turkeys were invented in order to make stuffing.
It has never made any difference at all which brand I have bought. But I find that if it is a frozen turkey, they all LIE about how to thaw them. They tell you to keep in a refrigerator for 3 days to let it thaw gradually.... well, hun... after 3 days it will be as hard as a rock in a fridge. I recommend a week or longer for refrigerator freezing, but by now, you'll need to take more aggressive action.
Now, for the truly non-gifted cook, you could always go to the grocery store and buy turkey TV dinners, heat them up and then scrape them into serving bowls.... cheating like crazy and it won't taste all that good, but easy easy easy.
I'm fussy when it comes to Thanksgiving and cook all my pies from scratch, as well as the rolls, stuffing, and everything else. The end result is well worth it to me, but that's me.
Good luck.
