Question:
What dessert should I make for Easter?
2009-04-10 19:55:35 UTC
My mom put me and my sister in charge of making dessert for Easter, I was wondering what I should make. In the past I've made lemon cupcakes, key lime pie, and lemon bars. I want something good to make. Just so you know I like more fruity and sweet stuff then chocolaty and rich, but both stuff works.

jello cake is good and easy, take a white cake mix bake as directed after baked take a wooden spoon handle or any object and put holes in the cake set aside to cool ,next take a big box of strawberry jello and make it as directed ,then take the liquid jello and pour it all over the cake ,put in the fridge to cool after awhile or the night before take some fresh strawberries clean them and slice all over the cake and top it with cool whip.I spread the cool whip all over the cake and the strawberries just so the little ones don't go picking the strawberries off the top but you can do it either way and it is so good and so easy you will be making them for every holiday ,Have a great Easter .

Last year me and my mom made a thing that was like an easter egg basket (but eatable).

Ingredients;

1.Coconut shreds

2.Green Food Coloring

3.Rice Crispy Cereal

4.That melted sticky marshmallow thing.

5.Jelly beans/M&M's/Reese's or Hershey's egg shaped candy

1. Take the shredded coconut and put green food coloring on it. Stir it good and make sure most of the coconut turns green

2.Make rice crispy treat balls from the cereal and Marshmallow goop stuff.

3.Roll them up in an egg shape instead of squares.

4.Then put the coconut on a plate or in a bowl and place the rice crispy treat balls around and then sprinkle the jellybeans or whatever candy you choosed around.

And then you have it. :D

Carrot cake!

To one box carrot cake mix, follow the recipe on the box then after that mix in 1 1/2cups shredded carrots, 1/2 cup raisins, 1 can crushed pineapple (drained), 1/2 cup walnuts.

Frost with homemade cream cheese frosting, look up a recipe online. The frosting in a can is not very good.

Make Bunny Cakes!

Bake a two layer round cake, cut it in half after you put one layer on the top of the other. You now have two cakes. Icing one with white icing and put coconut on it, Icing the other half with chocolate. Take a cotton ball and make a tail, cut two ears for each one out of paper plates and use whatever you have for the whiskers and nose. My grandma used pink jelly beans and licorice. This was a family tradition because I didn't like coconut and my mom did.

How about Trifle

Is easy, light and tasty.

2 jelly rolls (store bought are fine)

2 small packages cherry jello

1 can of fruit cocktail

1 large vanilla instant pudding

Cool whip or Whipped Cream

Slice jelly rolls into 1/2" sliced, lined a nice bowl (glass salad bowl).

Drain fruit cocktail, Reserve juice for jello. Put in bowl.

Prepared jello according to instructions, substitute reserved juice for some of the cold water.

Pour Jello into bowl, chill till firm

Prepare pudding, top the firm jello with this. Then top with whipped cream.

Variations: Black Forest, canned Cherry's and grate chocolate on top of whipped cream.

Topical: a Tropical fruit cocktail, orange jello and put toasted coconut on top.

I like this for big groups, it gives me time for other things. I also some where have one made with pumpkin for Thanksgivings.

this is different, but how about a sweet potato casserole?

or these cupcakes look super cute =)

Sweet Potato Souffle

3 cups cooked fresh sweet potatoes, peeled if baked, drained if boiled

3 eggs

1 stick melted butter

½ cup whole milk

¼ cup light brown sugar

½ cup sugar

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup miniature marshmallows

¼ cup raisins (optional)

dash of nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mash the sweet potatoes with a whisk or potato masher. Combine them with eggs, butter, milk, brown and white sugars, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. Pour into a 9 x 12 inch casserole dish, and bake for 25-30 minutes. Top with the marshmallows, and return to the oven just long enough for the marshmallows to melt.

(Note: As an alternative to marshmallows, you may top with pecans . . . )

For pecan topping:

1 cup corn flakes

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1/3 cup melted butter

3/4 cup chopped pecans

Crush corn flakes into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine them with the sugar, butter and pecans and mix well. If using on a sweet potato soufflé, top the just-cooked soufflé with this mixture and return it to the oven for 5 minutes to brown.

I made this one, it was pretty easy and taste great. The recipe is from cooks.com

FLAN (MEXICAN CUSTARD)

1 can evaporated milk

1 can condensed milk

1 tbsp. vanilla

4 eggs, at room temperature

1/4 c. sugar

Melt sugar in a skillet until light brown, pour into a pie pan (glass). Blend milks, eggs and vanilla (don't over blend), pour into pie pan. Put glass pie dish into a large baking pan. Pour water into baking pan so that dish sits in water while cooking. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour, cool and refrigerate. Caramel on bottom will be runny.
