The H-E-B soup kits are so yummy, and seem to be super easy to make...I was just wondering if anyone knows what the package of spices that come in the soup kit is? It would be super easy and much cheaper to make if I could figure the spices out and how much of each to put in it!

I don't have access to HEB stores, but most tortilla soup mixes use:

garlic powder

onion powder

ground oregano

ground cilantro

ground or rubbed sage

powdered chile

powdered paprika

powdered celery seed

start with about a teaspoon of each, or use celery salt instead of powdered celery seed. Blend into chicken stock and taste. If you want it thicker add 1 tablespoon corn starch in 1/4 cup cold water and stir well. Thicken to your specs.

I never purchase the kits for anything. I always just add spices and herbs until the flavor is like I want it.

Ahhh..the ultimat Comfort food. Chicken Soup. I've made it all my life. First of all, don't over spice. I would put 1/4 Allspice, pinch of Thyme, (please tell me you used fresh garlic, if not, Garlic Powder NOT garlic salt) about 1 teaspoon, one pinch of parsley, and let it be what it is: Wonderful~ Good Luck! If you think it's too spicy, put about 1/2 tsp to one tsp (depending on situation) Rosemary and crumble it up good. It's quite sweet. Chicken Soup is really great on its own so keep the spices sparce.

Amber, as I am not sure if we even have them over here, when your next at the store read the back of the box would be the easiest.
