I used to have an app on my iPod touch and I can't remember the name of it. You could put recipes in and then make a menu and it would make your shopping list for your menu. I want to get it on my iPad. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I agree with the other two. We base our meals around what we have in the fridge and pantry, what is on sale, splurges.... And to make our shopping list we use-- wait for it-- Pen and scrap paper. (When we are done with the paper, we put it n recycling.) Most days, we decide before the meal even. Last night, my husband threw together a soup with potatoes that needed to be used, a couple of cartons of butternut squash soup, carrots in the fridge that also needed to be used, a bag of frozen corn, and spices. With it, we had whole wheat bread and pita triangles that we had leftover from a restaurant we frequent. (We get the vegetable, pita humus basket.) We have plenty of leftovers and we were talking about adding other things to it to make it last longer. Tonight, my husband has a couple of evening meetings. My kids are both not feeling well. (My 17-month-old napped for a few hours this afternoon and fell asleep a couple of hours in my lap after nursing.) We have not had dinner. It will probably be veggie burgers and frozen vegetables. Tomorrow, who knows? Probably soup, though my daughter will probably be at my in-laws' so we might just fend four ourselves.

I understand there are some very useful apps, such as the one my sister-in-law has to find cheap gas prices (but I can also do that on my lap top). However, from some of the ones I've seen, they are helping people to not have to think. (It seems the Internet itself contributes enough to that)

A scrap of paper on the frig. No app. I know what my recipes are and what they need.

I think it is stupid that everything is going virtual...I mean to make a reservation sure...but to pull up a menu....
