I was looking at Shortland Street the Hospital Soap from New Zealand the Other Day. A person wanted somebody else to make him Anzac Biscuits. The Girl Obliged and made the Biscuits, they appear to be 4 Inches in Diameter. Are they Commemorating the Second or First World War with their Biscuits. Does anybody have the Recipe for making them Curious. Thanking you.

Anzac biscuits( named after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) are cookies/biscuits made from rolled oats, golden syrup, sugar, butter, bi-carb soda & flour. They are very crunchy & tasty.

Will try to find my recipe & get back to you.

Edit: Recipe:

Anzac Biscuits.

1 cup of rolled oats

1cup of plain flour

1cup of sugar

3/4 cup of dessicated coconut

4oz butter

4 tblsns of Golden Syrup

1/2 tspn bicarbonate of soda

1 tblspn of boiling water.

Combine flour, oats, sugar & coconut in a mixing bowl. place the butter & syrup in a saucepan over a gentle heat & stir till melted. Mix the soda into the boiling water & add to the syrup mix. Then add all to the dry ingredients & mix well. Place teaspoonsful of the mix onto a greased oven tray, leaving a space as they spread. Bake in a slow oven, 150c- 300f for 20 minutes . Loosen on tray while still hot & leave to cool there. They go crunchy as they cool.

Sorry mate I don't watch any of those soaps, but as the ANZACS came from both countries, so too do the biscuits i guess.

ANZAC is a synthesis of NZ and Aussie working together for the noblest causes ... but given the friendly brotherly rivalry between the two, we can tweak the Kiwi made ANZAC biscuits a tad by using the best and freshest grown in Otago rolled oats! .. hehe! :)

You can buy them here (UK) too. Sainsbury's have them for sure. as that is where I buy them. They are totally excellent.
