Whipped cream cheese won't work (too much air & water in it) - but you can beat 8 oz. softened cream cheese with an egg, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and about 1/2 c. powdered sugar and swirl it through the batter (to create "Tiger" brownies). You need the sugar to sweeten it (or it will be a little sour; and the egg to help it bake well)

Cheesecake Brownies

1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

1 egg

1/3 cup white sugar

Prepare the brownie mix as directed by manufacturer. Preheat oven to temperature indicated on box. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.

Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan. Using an electric mixer, beat together the cream cheese, egg and sugar until smooth. Dollop the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Swirl together using a knife or skewer.

Bake according to manufacturer's instructions. Brownies will be done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan, then cut into bars and serve.

Add some sugar to that cream cheese and beat it well before adding it to the brownies. Drop it by spoonfuls on top of the batter and draw it through with a butterknife.

sure it will be fine. I'd melt the cream cheese in the microwave first then you can just pour it into the mix and swirl it. It will be easier to get the swirly effect that way.
