Question:
Can I make fried chicken with boneless skinless chicken breasts?

I've really been wanting to try my hand at making some really good homemade fried chicken, but I usually buy boneless skinless chicken for my household. I have all the things needed to dredge the meat (like egg, flour, and bread crumbs), but would the leaner healthier version still come out just as good?

Yes... just season with garlic salt and pepper, dread with flour only. The more breading you have the longer you'll have to fry and you'll dry the chicken breast out. Fry at 365, 370 degrees in vegetable oil for about 3 or 4 minutes per side and enjoy.

I've looked at the answers and I'm sure they'll get you close if that's what you really want to do, but I'm going to go in a different direction and encourage you to get out of the habit of buying boneless/skinless chicken.

There are so many good reasons to buy whole chickens, but for fried chicken, a properly cut up chicken is really the way to go.

But why else should you buy whole chickens? They're cheaper, and they aren't as processed. You're forced to learn a thing or two about avian anatomy, which can be a good thing if you ever have to carve a turkey. Also, you get lots of chicken bones which are great for making chicken stck with has thousands of uses.

I buy my chickens form a farmer I meat at my farmer's market. The chickens are raised on apsture, not in battery cages. All natural, no hormones or antibiotics. Best chicken ever and it only comes 1 way - whole!

And lastly - it's a skill any good cook should have, It isn't hard. There are some great tutorials on YouTube, and even if you mess up - what's the worst that can happen? The chicken is already dead.

Fried Boneless Chicken Breast

The meat's not as flavorful as chicken fried on the bone, but bonelss, skinless breasts fry up fine ( Works better if you cut the breast halves into smaller, even pieces, like chicken "tenders" because the meat at the surface will be done in a fraction of the time that it would take for chicken on the bone and you want it to cook evenly - not each piece half raw, half shoeleather).Dries out fast, so watch the time and temperature (365-375 F) closely.
Happiest in the kitchen.

Is is okay but part of the fun of eating friesd chicken is the crust/skin. And eating it off the bone.

Instead of freid chicken do this recipe for a chicken-chicken fried steak; This is totally different than the recipe I use for fried chicken.

Chicken chicken fried steak crumbs

The crumb mix is also sooo yummy for fried green tomatoes.

6 cups panko bread crumbs

2 tbsp dried parsley

1 tsp poultry seasoning

1 tsp white pepper

1 tbsp seasoned salt

2 tsp garlic salt or powder

1 1/2 tsp thyme

Mix well and put some in a bowl or I like to use a pie plate.

Pound out chicken breasts so they are all a unifrom thickness.

Then in a bowl bowl or dish of some kind whisk up some butter milk and eggs.

Dip the chicken in the wet mix then press firmly into the bread crumbs on both sides.

You can double dip but the crust just gets to thick.

Pan fry using butter or olive oil until golden brown and then top with chcken gravy or fresh squeezed lemon juice.

Yes you can. You can use any recipe for bone-in fried chicken. Yes the version you buy would be a little healthier but not by much. White meat is healthier than dark meat and skinless is healthier than skined.

Yes you can for sure.

I do it all the time.

That way you want to make is also great used in a burger! instead of meat in the buns.

KFC here in Australia make chicken fillet burgers which is a breast fliiet done the usual way KFC do the origional fried chicken pieces and put in buns.

Ive done this..

dredged the meat as you say.. then in a preheated 350 oven on bake

I lay the chicken pieces in a baking dish, and lightly brush the tops with some canola oil (dont over do the oil), just enough to lightly wet the top of the chicken pieces.. bake for 30-35 min till the coating looks nice and brown crispy. and check one piece to see no pink inside..

its sort of like an oven baked fried taste.. but way low fat and tasty..

I usually just season the chicken all over however I feel like it that day, you can play around and coat it lightly with vinegar & then add salt & pepper. or just plain fried chicken seasoning from the store. Or if you want it spicy, try paprika and red pepper with black pepper. then I dip it in flour to cover the entire thing, then drop it in the fryer. delicious :P

so, you make fried chicken cutlets. slice them thin, heat olive oil in a heavy skillet and then dip the chicken in egg with salt n pepper added, and then into flavored breadcrumbs, to which has been added italian grated cheese, parsley and garlic chopped finely. when the oil is hot enough for a drop of water to dance on it, then drop in chicken, one at a time and slowly. cook over medium high heat. drain on paper towels...serve with applesauce.

mhmm you can, it might come out like chicken strips though because the flavour of fried chicken comes from the leg. The white meat is usually what goes into chicken strips. :) They are still better for you.

ALSO.. i tried it one night with just coating the boneless skinless chicken with crushed up corn flakes! it was great! (like shake n bake, but i could fry it!)

Of course, I often cut them into strips about an inch wide then bread them and fry...chicken fingers with ranch dressing or bbq sauce for dipping.mmmmmmmmmm.

The chicken won't really have as much crisp in the skin but it works just as well. You are trying to make fried chicken that is healthy?Let me tell you, anything fried is immediately unhealthy.

Yes you can use the food network recipes if you would like. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/fried-chicken-recipe/index.html I prefer boneless chicken myself as well.

yes...you're on the right path! Instead of making batter dipped or flour dipped chicken, you will need to make breaded chicken similar to what is used to make cordon bleu, you have the right idea, go for it...

Enjoy!
