Okay so here is the deal a group of friends are getting together to play a couples version of Iron Chef this Saturday. The thing is that each couple needs to come up with a secret ingredient to go into the pool of possible secret ingredients. I am having a hard time comming up with an idea. So this is a call out to all you great people what would you suggest?

How about an exotic fruit like Plantains or Papaya?

You could also go to the seafood counter and see whats on sale. Seafood is always fun to cook.

What a great idea. This sounds like so much fun.

Iron Chef often has ingredients that are not uncommon, but are not regularly used. I would recommend something commonplace but somewhat exotic, such as: liver, tongue, other organ meats, matzo meal, gefilte fish, octopus, squid, eggplant, cilantro, parsley, coconut, etc.

Artichokes.

If they have to go get it themselves and you want to stump them, make it salsify...it's pretty hard to find and most people don't have a clue what it is (a carrot like vegetable with a very delicate flavour).

If you really want to see who has what it takes, make it something really simple and see what your friends do with it like chicken, pancakes, omelettes or burgers.

Cheese would be fun. There is a lot you can do with cheese.

Or, a fruit would be good, such as strawberrys or pineapple

If you want something that you can make lots of things with, I would pick something like cheese, apples or chicken. If you want to make it harder you could pick something like chili peppers, pomegranates or eggplant.

zucchini would be a good one! You can make a lot of dishes with zucchini, sweet savory fried and sauteed.
