im munching on a bag of potato chips that have been open since memorial day weekend (around may 31) they have bee sitting around for a while but im wicked hungry! some are a little stale and there not passed there date. am i ok to keep eating them?

Yes chips do go bad. Them being stale is the bad part. That's the negative result when they're left out to long.

i've actually read somewhere in the newspaper that when potatos are fried (french fries, hash browns, potato wedges, potato chips, ect.) they form this chemical that has been linked to cause certain cancers. so maybe that's a reason why they're considered junk food, and also because anything fried can't really be that good for you, even if the oil it's fried in is healthier than the other oils, it's still unhealthy.

They will go bad in time, but not after a few weeks. If they taste fine, and not stale, then eat them.

Yeah you're safe. They'd just go stale if they were bad.
