Is there a bad connotation to eating Spam canned ham or does it's association with junk e-mails have nothing to do with the quality of the product?

Not in my family. It's a special treat we normally have when we go camping. I also know that it was a staple for my father when he was a merchant marine in the Pacific during World War II. It's all relative, and my relatives love it!

Span is a very salty ham product. But the Hawaiian culture loves it. The American GI's introduced that population to the product during WWII because it was a main staple to the GI's diets. There's a sushi that is very popular with the Hawaiians...it's Musabi (aka Musubi). It's sushi with Spam.
Spam is like all this unidentifiable stuff in a can and that's why the e-mail junk stuff is associated with the canned Spam because it's a bunch of ham "stuff "in a can.
Good luck.

Spam (spiced ham tinned) found a surprising population of fans in Hawaii, of all places..! There it is common to find elaborate Spam recipes in local restaurants catering to Native Hawaiians.
Spam was always popular with the Military and always used as a stand-bye for emergencies in many American households. And it is far more popular than realised. Spam sales are on the rise though, in truth, Spam is more expensive (per ounce weight) that just about every supermarket meat sales.

As far as I've heard/read, the use of SPAM for junk email comes from the Monty Python spam skit, and the Spam Song in the skit.
The spam song was mainly made up of the word spam over and over and over.
As far as the taste and quality of the product, its about on par with all the other canned meats I've tried.

Spam is okay, not great but okay. It got a bad reputation back during WWII when that was the only meat many service men got for months on end. The bad mouthing goes on but people continue to buy it.

Its not the heathiest meal but it is fast and you can do things with it for variety , to me it taste like hash and it goes well with eggs and you can smash it up and use it with veggies and cheese and it is best on a campout too .

Spam is okay. I like cooking it with scrambled eggs.
