How do you get chicken giblets these days?

Apart from in frozen chickens, which aren't so good. What happens to the giblets, are they thrown away? When did this nonsense start? People tell me to ask my butcher, but there aren't any left where I live, only supermarkets where the staff have never heard of giblets.

I go to a local Farm shop (I guess I'm a town mouse...near enough to the country) so their chickens have giblets.

Usually you'll find the Xmas turkeys have them though. Do Waitrose chickens have thair giblets??? Do you have one nearby..give them a call. Have you tried Organic Meat sellers near you they might have respect for the lowly giblet...

It's a bit like chicken skin....where is that all going....it's nearly impossible to find chicken breasts with their skin on in larger than a single portion pack.

Perhaps our little kiddies are eating the neck and skin in their nuggets and twizzlers...

BEst of luck in your hunt

Ask the butcher in your supermarket. If you make arraingements with , they will keep the giblets and other organs for you on the side for you to pick up. Butchers usually cut meat in the late evening or early mornings. Make sure to get the name of the butcher that promissed the giblets to you, so if they aren't there the day you go to pick them up so they know you're not making stuff up.

Where I live they put the giblets in a plastic bag inside the chicken or you can get them at any meat shop that sells fresh chicken.

It might be a good idea to try any ethnic markets that sell fresh meat. (chinese, west indian). Other than that or a butcher I am not sure where you can get them.

Have no idea whether your aunt included those lovelies in the chicken or not, but you first have to defrost the whole thing in order to get in there to see. Rinse with cold water and put your hand inside the caviety. You might find a neck piece along with the heart, gizzard, and liver. That should be it, unless your aunt didn't dress the chicken after it was killed. To be on the safe side, you might want to give her a call and ask her first.

Butchers around the Peckham market if you are near there, or definitely butchers at Green street market in East London, coz I have bought them there before.
