How many cups of butter do I need to frost 200 cupcakes using a standard swirl?

I have 200 cupcakes to frost and i have no idea how much butter it will take to frost all of them. i am using buttercream frosting, if that helps at all. thank you so much! These are very important cupcakes!!!

Let us assume you can make 20 to 24 cupcakes from one cake recipe. So, 200 cupcakes is equivalent to roughly 9 cakes.



I make a double batch of butter cream for one layer cake.

Here is my recipe (already doubled). If you make this 9 times, you will need 18 cups of butter.



2 cups butter

8 cups powdered sugar

4 tsp. vanilla

6 to 10 T. heavy cream

If you are making a butter cream with butter ONLY and you use about 1/5 of a cup per cup cake you will need about 15 cups of butter to frost 200 cupcakes.



This could vary a bit if you make a Swiss or Italian butter creme ... but expect 15 cups.
