I don't eat lettuce in my food because of a illness that occurred from it almost 10 years ago so i am trying to find out if there is an alternative to eating lettuce when it comes to burgers, salads, etc....

Well if it comes in burgers, just remove it. In a salad? Lettuce is what makes up the majority of it. But when you can substitute the lettuce with shredded cabbage. I like it better than spinach.

Baby spinach is a very good substitute to lettuce, and so much better for you, as regular ice-berg lettuce is just water and cellulose anyway, and not very good for you. Also, we quite enjoy sui-choi, which is a leafier version of bok-choi, and is a member of the cabbage family, and also quite nutritious.

There are many varieties of lettuce.
Unless you are actually allergic to lettuce, which would be very unusual, you simply ate some bad lettuce. Stop being afraid of this simple vegetable and try it again.
